Annual meeting: The annual meeting in 2018 was held in Boston and had attendance of over 3,150 people. There were numerous sessions which helped with continuing education for hand surgeons and others. Before and after the official opening of the meeting, there were seventeen lab and didactic courses held which dealt with tendon and nerve procedures, carpal instability, malunions and nonunions, ultrasound, athletic injuries, implant arthroplasty, leadership skills, mutilated hands, research methodology, flaps, arthroscopy, ulnar sided wrist pain, decision making for complex problems, controversies in hand surgery, coding and reimbursement, pediatrics, and scaphoid fractures and nonunions. There was a sub meeting, which was for the furthering education of residents and fellows. There were also several scientific sessions in which doctors report on and discuss different surgical techniques researched and used in upper extremity care.
