WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE FOUNDATION FOR THE CHILDREN, THE FOUNDATIONS IN MEXICO AND CANADA, AND THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF THE PUBLIC ACROSS THE REGION, CORPORATE SPONSORS AND PHILANTHROPISTS, HOSPITAL INFANTIL IS A MODEL PEDIATRIC SPECIALTY FACILITY THAT PROVIDES SERVICES TO CHILDREN FROM ACROSS THE REGION, REGARDLESS FOR THEIR ABILITY TO PAY FOR THE SERVICES. HOSPITAL INFANTIL SUCCEEDS IN DELIVERING AFFORDABLE CARE IN LARGE PART BECAUSE OF ITS UNIQUE OPERATING MODEL THAT IS BASED ON VOLUNTEERISM. IT IS AN OUTPATIENT FACILITY STAFFED BY VOLUNTEER PEDIATRIC SPECIALISTS AND CLINICIANS, SUPPORTED BY A CORE STAFF OF PEDIATRICIANS AND INFRASTRUCTURE PERSONNEL. THE FOUNDATION FOR THE CHILDREN PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR HOSPITAL INFANTIL FOR CAPITAL NEEDS, INNOVATIVE PROJECTS AND FOR ITS PAPI PROGRAM WHICH FUNDS MEDICAL CARE FOR CHILDREN NOT ABLE TO AFFORD CARE. IN ADDITION, FOUNDATION FOR THE CHILDREN CONDUCTS OUTREACH PROGRAMS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF THE AFFORDABLE SERVICES AVAILABLE AT HOSPITAL INFANTIL.THE FOUNDATION FOR THE CHILDREN OF THE CALIFORNIAS WAS FORMED IN 1990 AND THE HOSPITAL INFANTIL OPENED IN 1994. SINCE THAT TIME, THE HOSPITAL COMPLEX HAS GROWN THROUGH A SERIES OF FACILITIES AND SERVICE EXPANSIONS. IN 2012, THE NEWEST BUILDING WAS ADDED TO HOUSE STATE-OF-THE ART SURGICAL SUITES AND SPECIALIST CLINIC SPACE. THE HOSPITAL NOW PROVIDES SERVICES IN 26 SPECIALTIES, INCLUDING ALLERGY, CARDIOLOGY, DENTISTRY/ORTHODONTICS, EAR/NOSE/THROAT, ENDOCRINOLOGY, DERMATOLOGY, GASTROENTEROLOGY, INFECTIOUS DISEASES, NEPHROLOGY, NEUROLOGY, NUTRITION, OPHTHALMOLOGY, PHYSIOTHERAPY, PULMONOLOGY, PSYCHOLOGY AND SURGERY. AS OF 2018, HOSPITAL INFANTIL HAS PROVIDED OVER 580,000 PEDIATRIC CONSULTATIONS, MORE THAN 17,000 SURGERIES, AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF HOURS OF SERVICE BY VOLUNTEERS FROM THE US, CANADA AND MEXICO. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING MEDICAL CARE TO CHILDREN, HOSPITAL INFANTIL HAS DELIVERED SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND HOURS OF DISEASE PREVENTION AND HEALTH PROMOTION EDUCATION TO MEDICAL AND HEALTH PROFESSIONS, CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES, AND STUDENTS OF ALL AGES IN COOPERATION WITH MORE THAN 30 AFFILIATED UNIVERSITIES AND SCHOOLS FROM ACROSS NORTH AND CENTRAL AMERICA.TWO EXAMPLES OF SPECIAL PROJECTS AND INNOCATION SUPPORTED BY THE FOUNDATION FOR THE CHILDREN WERE BEGUN IN 2016. HOSPITAL INFANTILS DENTAL CLINIC OPENED IN AUGUST 2016, PROVIDING DENTAL AND ORTHODONTIC CARE AND TREATMENT TO CHILDREN FROM ACROSS THE REGION. IN ADDITION, THE TELEHEALTH PROGRAM WAS LAUNCHED, PROVIDING TECHNOLOGY AND WEB-ENABLED SPECIALTY MEDICAL CONSULTATIONS AND HEALTH EDUCATION TO HEALTH FACILITIES IN DISTANT LOCATIONS. A COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE FOUNDATION FOR THE CHILDREN AND CARLOS SANTANAS MILAGRO FOUNDATION ESTABLISHED THE FIRST CONNECTION IN THE PLANNED HUB-AND-SPOKE SYSTEM, LINKING HOSPITAL INFANTIL WITH A RURAL CLINIC 1500 MILES AWAY IN AUTLN, JALISCO.
