Mission

The Surfing Heritage Foundation is dedicated to preserving the history of surfing. We collect, preserve, and document surf craft, print, photos, oral histories, art, cinematography, and surfing memorabilia for the appreciation and education of current and future generations.

About

Surfing Heritage and Culture Center (SHACC) provides hosted and individual tours of its extensive historic surfboard archive and photo collection to students and surfing enthusiasts. We had approximately 7,500 visitors during the year and made several loans of pieces of SHACC's archive to enhance other museums' exhibits. We are continuing to develop curriculum for the educational community in California and beyond. We curated a collection of historic championship surfboards and a timeline of the surfboard fin that are both now on display at SHACC. Surfing Heritage uses social media as part of its outreach program. Last year we had over 100,000 visits to our website, over 1,400 followers on Twitter, 7,500 followers on Facebook, and our surf channel has close to 5,500 viewers per month. Our monthly e-newsletter is received by more than 9,000 people.
