Foster grandparent volunteer program funded through the Corporation for National Service, state of Ohio volunteer funds and Lucas County levy funds. This program provides volunteer opportunities for low income eligible persons, age 55 or over. These volunteers are trained to work with special needs children age 19 or younger in the community in such non-profit settings as elementary schools, day care centers and head start programs. Volunteers receive orientation, monthly in-service trainings, meal and mileage reimbursement and hourly volunteer stipend. In 2018 70 volunteers provided 58,353 hours of service to the community
