Y.O.U. PROVIDES THE LARGEST ARRAY OF EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS FOR TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS IN CUYAHOGA COUNTY. Y.O.U. HELPS YOUTH SUCCEED BY PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL AND WORKFORCE OPPORTUNITIES, SKILLS DEVELOPMENT, AND ACCESS TO CAREER PATHWAYS. Y.O.U. HAS TWO MAIN AREAS OF FOCUS: (1) COMMUNITY-BASED EMPLOYMENT INITIATIVES THAT WORK WITH EMPLOYERS AND INDUSTRY SECTORS TO CREATE SUMMER AND YEAR-ROUND WORK OPPORTUNITIES, AND TRAINING THAT LEADS TO CERTIFICATION, AS WELL AS JOBS, INTERNSHIPS, AND OTHER WORKPLACE EXPERIENCES FOR AGES 14-24 WHO COME FROM FAMILIES THAT LIVE IN ECONOMICALLY DISTRESSED COMMUNITIES. Y.O.U. OPERATES A COMMUNITY-WIDE SUMMER JOBS PROGRAM WITH FUNDING FROM VARIOUS ENTITIES, INCLUDING GOVERNMENT, IN WHICH Y.O.U. IS THE EMPLOYER OF RECORD, PROVIDING RECRUITMENT, WAGES, OVERSIGHT, (PLEASE SEE SCHEDULE O) AND FOLLOW-UP SERVICES TO TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS WHO WORK IN A WIDE RANGE OF WORK SETTINGS. (2) Y.O.U. ALSO PROVIDES SCHOOL-BASED YOUTH WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS THAT MOTIVATE TEENS TO SUCCEED IN SCHOOL SO THEY GRADUATE ON TIME AND ARE PREPARED TO CONTINUE ON FOR CAREER-CERTIFICATION, EMPLOYMENT, POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION OR THE MILITARY.
