Mission

The Toledo Area Humane Society is committed to the welfare of animals and to promoting a healthy bond between animals and their human companions. We shall provide shelter and care for animals; advocate for animals...speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves; intervene and prevent cruelty to animals; and educate the community regarding animal issues such as responsible care and training and the correlation between animal cruelty and human abuse.

About

TAHS receives about 5,000 unwanted or abused companion animals every year. It investigates reports of animal cruelty, provides care and rehabilitation to rescued animals and prosecutes the offenders. TAHS also operates a veterinary clinic and ensures that every animal leaving the shelter is spayed or neutered and fully vaccinated. The clinic also performs dental procedures on animals, treats a wide variety of conditions and performs surgeries as needed. TAHS adopts out more than 4,000 animals annually and provides educational, age appropriate summer camps with the assistance of a dedicated volunteer core. It also runs a thrift store to help offset operational expenses.
