Mission

Pals Programs creates inclusive summer camp experiences for young people with Down syndrome and their peers. Participants with Down syndrome are paired one-to-one with a peer without Down syndrome, and together they build transformative, lifelong friendships while learning the true meaning of inclusion. Our programs are held on college campuses across the country, and typically run between the months of June to August. Programming includes a dynamic blend of unique on-campus activities, and off-campus trips to explore local sites and attractions, while participants experience life on a college campus.

About

Pals is proud to have provided immersive sleep-away experiences for 602 young adults with Down syndrome during the 2018-2019 fiscal year. In addition, Pals provided weekend engagement opportunities for over 100 campers during the off-season. At every event, each camper was paired one-on-one with a volunteer, peer-aged counselor. Together they enjoyed offsite trips, on-site skill-building and other camp-like opportunities to build social and independence skills. We were also proud to be able to provide financial aid for any families that requested it and to give back to the community with the congratulations project letters written by our campers to new parents of babies with Down syndrome.
