CHILDRENS LEARNING CENTER IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT DAY CARE CENTER.

PROVIDING SUBSIDIZED CHILD CARE SERVICES TO LOW AND MODERATE INCOME FAMILIES. THE CENTER OFFERS EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS FOR INFANTS, TODDLERS, PRESCHOOL GROUPS, BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, AND SCHOOL HOLIDAY AND SUMMER CARE PROGRAMS. IN THE 2018-2019 YEAR, 33 CHILDREN WERE IN THE INFANT/TODDLER GROUP, 91 ATTENDED PRESCHOOL, 82 CHILDREN ATTENDED BEFORE/AFTER CARE AND SCHOOL HOLIDAY AND SUMMER CARE PROGRAMS. ALL OF THESE PROGRAMS ARE ONGOING. ENROLLMENT WAS DOWN IN FY19 DUE TO THE ONGOING CRISIS OF HIRING AND RETAINING QUALIFIED TEACHERS.DESPITE THE HIRING AND RETAINING TEACHER CRISIS, CHILDREN'S LEARNING CENTER REMAINS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY EARLY EDUCATION AND CHILD CARE. THIS HAS NOT BEEN EASY BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION.CHILDREN'S LEARNING CENTER PAID OFF ITS MORTGAGE FOR THE MAIN CENTER IN JUNE 2019.CHILDREN'S LEARNING CENTER CONTINUES TO BE A GOLD CIRCLE OF QUALITY FROM THE EXCELERATE ILLINOIS PROGRAM. THIS DEMONSTRATES THE ONGOING EFFORTS TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION FOR THE FAMILIES.CHILDREN'S LEARNING CENTER REMAINS ACCREDITED THROUGH EARLY LEARNING LEADERS NATIONAL ACCREDITATION COMMISSION.FIVE ADDITIONAL CAMERAS WERE PURCHASED AND INSTALLED AND SIXTEEN DIGITAL TWO-WAY RADIOS WERE PURCHASED (ONE FOR EACH CLASSROOM AND FOR EACH ADMINISTRATOR). GRANTS FROM THE DEKALB COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION COMMUNITY NEEDS GRANT, THE HORIZONS FOUNDATION, AND THE CY MILLER FOUNDATION WERE USED TO PURCHASE THE EQUIPMENT. THE CAMERAS IMPROVED SECURITY AND THE RADIOS MAY BE LINKED TO THE DEKALB SCHOOL DISTRICT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT DISPATCH IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY.
