More about this organization

Mission

Arts Alliance Illinois builds the vitality of communities statewide through service and advocacy, thereby generating resources for the cultural sector and creative industries. 1. Through statewide civic engagement, we position arts and culture as a source of creative solutions to a broad range of challenges across civil society (violence prevention, health, housing, etc.). 2. Through promoting cultural equity, we foster equitable access to and participation in arts and culture, and advance historically neglected or marginalized forms of expression. 3. Through arts education, we promote arts-centered learning and the development of a creative and adaptive workforce.

About

One state every two years, the alliance partners with the state arts agency to host one state together in the arts, the only statewide conference focused on creative professionals representing a broad range of disciplines. Featuring keynote presentations, interactive breakout sessions, live performances and exhibitions, and tours of the local community, one state conferences bring together more than 300 leaders and practitioners from creative industries and beyond to learn about the latest developments in the sector and how attendees can expand their work statewide. In 2018, the alliance hosted a successful one state in Galesburg, IL that drew upon the city's history and culture in its programming.
