Stephen Center's emergency shelter, opened in 1984, advances the shelter's distinct reputation for treating every individual with dignity and respect while maintaining a sober and drug-free environment. Within 72 hours of arrival, every shelter client meets with a Stephen Center caseworker to develop and implement a plan for success to emerge from homelessness and regain independence and stability. The shelter houses 32 men, 32 women and has five family units. The shelter provided 28,087 total nights of lodging in 2018 to 857 individuals (31 Families, 74 Children and 744 Adults), 100% living in poverty with an average length of stay of 32 days.
