Conservation:1. Completed the 328-acre Grosswiler Dairy Conservation Easement in the West Valley with funding from the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) Agricultural Land Easement (ALE) Program Grant. We were able to raise the required non-federal match over two years in order to receive the funding. In partnership with MT Fish, Wildlife, and Parks and the landowners, we also helped finalize the public bird viewing area easement.2. Completed the 45-acre Kurfess Conservation Easement on the north shore of Flathead Lake with funding from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) North American Wetland Conservation Act (NAWCA) Grant. 3. Completed the 78-acre Shepherd Conservation Easement which protects key wildlife habitat near Trail Creek in the north fork of the Flathead River Valley.4. Other highlights included completing the excavation of a new community fishing pond in Columbia Falls, signing on as a partner with the Flathead Lake Access Initiative, participating in the Paths Working Group to develop an updated county trails plan, facilitating an acquisition of the Baer property to be added to the USFWS Smith Lake Waterfowl Production Area in 2019, and working towards a possible acquisition of Weyerhaeuser property near Kila.
