FACILITY OPERATION:EDUCATION: THE RED RIVER ZOO'S FORMAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS REACHED OVER 21,000 PEOPLE - ZOOMOBILE OUTREACH CLASSES: 10,200 - ZOOKEEPER CHATS: 8,000 -ON SITE CLASSES: 3,500 -JR KEEPER LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: 177-DAY CAMPS: 135FAMILY FUN:THE ZOO PROVIDES A MUCH NEEDED SPACE FOR FAMILIES TO HAVE MAKE MEMORIES TOGETHER WHILE ENJOYING UNIQUE EXPERIENCES IN A BEAUTIFUL SPACE. IN 2018 OVER 120,000 PEOPLE VISITED THE ZOO. THE ZOO HOSTED 17 COMMUNITY EVENTS IN 2018, REACHING OVER 25,000 PEOPLE. EACH EVENT HAS A THEME AND INCLUDES SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL AND ENTERTAINING ACTIVITIES. EXAMPLES: BOO AT THE ZOO, JAWS PAWS AND LUNCH WITH SANTA CLAUSE, CHALFEST, AND PARTY FOR THE PLANET. COMMUNITY BUILDING: THE RED RIVER ZOO WORKS WITH PARTNERS IN OUR COMMUNITY TO CREATE EVENTS AND EXHIBITS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO OUR COMMUNITY. IN 2018 THE ZOO PARTNERED WITH NORTH DAKOTA CORN UTILIZATION COUNCIL AND THE NORTH DAKOTA SOYBEAN COUNCIL TO CREATE AN INTERACTIVE MODERN FARMING EXHIBIT. THE EXHIBIT FOCUSES ON CROPS GROWN IN NORTH DAKOTA AND FEATURES STORIES OF LAND STEWARDSHIP. THE ZOO ALSO PARTNERED WITH THE ARTS PARTNERSHIP TO HOST CHALKFEST, A FREE ZOO DAY PROMOTING LOCAL ART AND ENCOURAGING ACCESSIBLE ART FOR EVERYONE.IN ADDITION TO PARTNERING WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS, THE ZOO IS A LEADER IN INNOVATIVE CONSERVATION PARTNERSHIPS. IN 2018 THE ZOO WAS ONE OF 6 AZA-ACCREDITED ZOO'S TO BE A PART OF A PIOLET PROGRAM CALLED ZOO PARKS PARTNERSHIP (ZPP) WHICH ESTABLISHES PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN ZOO'S AND NATIONAL PARKS. THROUGH THE ZPP THE ZOO WORKS WITH A NATIONAL PARK TO PROMOTE PARK VISITATION, SUPPORT CONSERVATION EFFORTS, SHARE EDUCATIONAL MESSAGING, AND ASSIST WITH META POPULATION MANAGEMENT.
