About

Umoja's college and career readiness seminar model is a three-part, year-long process that includes strategic planning with the school community in the spring; Umoja University in the summer for teachers, counselors and administrators; and customized coaching throughout the school year in the implementation of Umoja's Chicago Public Schools (CPS) certified, for-credit, social-emotional learning curriculum with over 500+ sequenced and scoped lessons. The seminar model has two key goals: 1) ensuring that all students have access to essential tools and knowledge in order to graduate with high quality postsecondary options; and 2) engaging the school community in school-wide change through culture building, professional development and building critical systems and capacity.
