About

Retail and donated goods program services: Goodwill Industries of West Michigan accepts donated clothing, and other household goods, from the public and sells these donations in Goodwill's 16 community-based retail stores. Over 90% of the revenue from the sale of these goods goes directly toward supporting and growing its mission-based employment and training programs and services to the West Michigan community. Goodwill raises additional revenue for its mission through participation in the online auction site, www.shopgoodwill.com. Goodwill's retail stores and donation centers also provide on-the-job training to people with disabilities and other disadvantages, enrolled in Goodwill's various programs. Clothing and other goods not suitable for resale in Goodwill stores are sorted and sold to various recyclers or salvage brokers for the greatest value, diverting as much as possible from the waste stream. Additionally, select textiles are cut and converted to 'industrial wipers and sold to area businesses. Goodwill is focused on maximizing donation value for its mission services, as well as reducing waste.
