Mission
Established to promote respect for all life and to prevent cruelty to animals, our continuing mission is to support the loving, responsible care of all animals in our community by:
- Ensuring proper, nurturing care for the animals in our shelter
- Placing all adoptable animals in loving homes and attempting to re-unite strays with their families
- Reducing pet overpopulation by providing low-cost sterilizations
- Providing education and outreach to the community
- Stopping animal cruelty by working with local law enforcement as needed to educate people and protect animals.

For more than 125 years, the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) has been serving the community, saving animals and helping people. HSHV is still the only animal shelter in Washtenaw County, taking in all types of unwanted, injured, lost, stray, abandoned, and abused animals. Today, we help over 24,000 animals and their people through our array of services every year.
