Mission

The society's mission is to ensure responsible treatment of animals, to decrease the number of abused and unwanted animals, and to conduct community programs which promote quality animal care.

About

The adoption program that is in place at Cascades Humane Society ('CHS') strives to serve the Jackson area by placing dogs, cats and other animals within the Jackson County area into qualified homes. In 2019, CHS adopted more than 1,200 animals into their forever homes. In addition to adoptions, CHS provides the community with unique services. Our low cost spay and neuter services (SNAP) for owned animals means pets are being sterilized that may not have been otherwise. This not only prevents unwanted litters of puppies and kittens, but it also keeps the owned animal healthier and happier. Our forgotten feline program (our version of a TNR program) assists kind-hearted people care for the free-roaming cats in their care. We will spay and neuter their cats as well as give each a rabies shot. Lastly, we are proud to offer a pet food pantry that feeds the pets of families who are going through financial hardships. This keeps pets in their homes where they belong because a family does not need to make a difficult decision between feeding their pet and paying their bills. In 2019, CHS spayed or neutered more than 650 owned animals and nearly 400 cats through our forgotten feline program.
