The American Academy of Dermatology, founded in 1938, is the largest, most influential, and most representative of all dermatologic associations. With a membership of more than 20,500 physicians worldwide, the AAD is committed to: advancing the diagnosis and medical, surgical, and cosmetic treatment of the skin, hair, and nails; advocating high standards in clinical practice, education, and research in dermatology; and supporting and enhancing patient care for a lifetime of healthier skin, hair, and nails.

Scientific Assembly - This includes the annual and summer scientific and educational meetings. These meetings are attended by more than 19,000 dermatologists, other physicians, allied medical personnel, and others. These two programs combined present more than 500 individual educational sessions providing results of current research and recent advances in the diagnosis, management and treatment of dermatologic conditions and diseases, and address issues of patient safety, quality of care and practice management improvement.
