THE SAFETY VILLAGE OF SOUTH DAKOTA OFFERS THESE MAJOR PROGRAMS: 1. THE TEEN DRIVING PROGRAM HAS DRIVING SIMULATORS AND A PROGRAM TO EDUCATE ON THE CONSEQUENCES OF IMPAIRED AND DISTRACTED DRIVING. 1729 STUDENTS COMPLETED THE PROGRAM IN 2018. 2. DURING THE 2018 SIOUX EMPIRE FAIR, APPROXIMATELY 2,400 PEOPLE TOURED THE SAFETY HOUSE AND ATTENDED THE CHILDRENS SAFETY FAIR, AND 180 PEOPLE USED THE DRIVING SIMULATOR TRAINING EXHIBIT. 3. TWO HALF DAY SAFETY CAMPS FOR 1ST-4TH GRADERS, TAUGHT BY COMMUNITY SAFETY PARTNERS WERE ATTENDED BY 120 CHILDREN. THREE 3-DAY HEROES SAFETY CAMPS TAUGHT BY FIRST RESPONDERS, WERE ATTENDED BY 70 6TH-8TH GRADERS. 4. THE C.R.A.S.H. (CAR REPAIR AND SAFETY HELP) CLINICS TAUGHT 34 TEENS BASIC CAR MAINTENANCE, SAFE DRIVING SKILLS, HOW TO CHECK TIRE PRESSURE AND CHANGE A TIRE, WHAT TO INCLUDE IN A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT, RULES OF THE ROAD AND CURFEWS, AND THE EFFECTS OF IMPAIRED AND DISTRACTED DRIVING USING DRIVING SIMULATORS. 5. COMMUNITY OUTREACH INCLUDED OUR GRAIN BIN SAFETY EXHIBIT WAS SHOWN AT AG DAY AT THE WASHINGTON PAVILION, ATTENDED BY 2600 PARTICIPANTS.THE DRIVING SIMULATORS WERE USED AT THE SD FCCLA CONFERENCE ATTENDED BY 2000 TEENS. PORK PRODUCERS EDUCATION EVENT HAD 300 PARTICIPANTS. HEFTY FIELD DAY HAD 600 PARTICIPANTS. AS PART OF THEIR ANNUAL FIELD TRIP DAY, 800 3RD GRADERS TOURED THE SAFETY HOUSE. HABITAT FOR HUNANITY BROUGHT 13 PARTICIPANTS IN THEIR PROGRAM TO LEARN FIRE AND HOME SAFETY TOURING THE SAFETY HOUSE. OUR SAFETY DURING HALLOWEEN EXHIBIT AT THE WASHINGTON PAVILION'S SPOOKY SCIENCE WAS ATTENDED BY 1454 PARTICIPANTS
