About

ResourceWest is a non-profit community agency that serves low-income families and individuals living in the West Metro who are struggling to make ends meet each day. We help people become more connected, more resourceful, and more hopeful about their future. ResourceWest's mission is to support individuals and families in the West Metro through collaborative programs and connections to resources as they move toward greater stability. From crisis to action to hope, the services of ResourceWest stabilize families and ultimately help build healthier communities one neighbor at a time. We carry out our mission through four core programs:1. Resource Connection Program: Staff and volunteers provide information on resources to families looking for food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, jobs, education and more. This is offered during our walk-in or phone hours. 2. Children and Youth Programs: Families with limited incomes can struggle to provide basic needs and additional expenses without breaking their budgets. We help families do both through three programs: *Back-To-School: Provides new school supplies and backpacks for children and youth in grades K-12. *Winter Warm Wear: Provides new or gently used jackets, snow pants, hats, etc. for children ages 0-18. *Holiday Toy Chest: Provides small and large gifts, books, and games for children ages 0-18.3. Social Services Program: Individuals and families facing a financial and/or family crisis may need more intensive support from our professional English, Somali and Spanish speaking staff. Our Social Services Program may include one or more of the services listed below:*Case Management Services: Assessment, counseling, advocacy, problem solving, 1-6 month goal planning, follow-up, and referral. *Emergency Financial Assistance: Auto repairs, gas, prescriptions, child care, and financial assistance related to employment. *Resume & Job Application support: We connect individuals that need employment support with volunteers and staff to gain greater or better employment. *Multi-Cultural Support: Assist immigrants and refugees to navigate county and community resources, including phone, electronic and written communication. 4. Community Collaborative Programs: We partner with other agencies to provide on-site support services throughout the year. These support services include free tax preparation services, MnSure navigator, public assistance applications, and more. Our Impact in 2018:*3,540 households benefitted from our Children and Youth Programs.*624 distinct families/households received services from our social service staff.*3,482 individuals sought information on a walk-in or phone call basis. *72 individuals received bridge assistance grant funds for one-time, short-term financial needs. *5 agencies were hosted on-site *250 volunteers provided 4,000 hours to ResourceWest.
