About
Monument Crisis Center welcomes you! We are a family resource center that provides food, education, and referrals to individuals, families, children, and seniors in need, no matter your legal status. We are here to help you! Together we succeed!
In 2003, a small group of concerned citizens banded together and founded the Monument Crisis Center. Enthusiastic students from Mt. Diablo JROTC and Carondelet High School were our first volunteers helping with everything from client intake to donation solicitations. With start-up funding from the Safeway Foundation, Salvation Army, Soroptimist International of Pleasant Hill as well as several individual donors the Monument Crisis Center opened its doors on August 19, 2003. They worked out of one single office and food “closet” and served 84 families on the first day of food distribution. From that day forward, our client base has only continued to grow, adding approximately 1,300 new families each year. Today, we have more than 15,000 households signed up in our Food Distribution Program and we serve between 130-180 families at each distribution. Our programs and services have evolved and expanded in order to meet the needs of our growing clientele. Although food distribution remains our primary objective, we have developed adult education, youth, and senior programs to address the various needs of our clients. Monument Crisis Center strives to be a valuable resource for those in need of support in our community.
