FOR ALMOST 50 YEARS, THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF STORY COUNTY HAS WORKED WITH AT-RISK STUDENTS AND YOUNG PEOPLE FROM LOW INCOME, DISADVANTAGED SOCIAL AND FAMILY CIRCUMSTANCES. THE CHILDREN AND YOUTH THAT WILL BE SERVED BY THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF STORY COUNTY ARE 6-18 YEAR OLD RESIDENTS OF AMES AND STORY COUNTY. DURING SCHOOL BREAKS, A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF OUR PARTICIPATING MEMBERS ARE FROM SURROUNDING COUNTIES. WE TARGET UNDERSERVED, UNDERPRIVILEGED YOUTH WHO ARE IN NEED OF ADDIITIONAL SUPPORT TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND PREPARE THEM FOR GREAT FUTURES THROUGH OUR RESEARCHED-BASED YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. WE PROVIDE HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO HELP MEMBERS GRADUATE ON TIME FROM HIGH SCHOOL, WITH A PLAN FOR THE FUTURE, KNOWING THAT THEY ARE BETTER EQUIPED TO FACE LIFE'S CHALLENGES. THE CLUB OFFERS OUR MEMBERS WHAT THEY NEED AND WANT MOST 1)ADULTS WHO RESPECT AND LISTEN TO THEM, 2) A SAFE ENVIRONMENT WHERE THEY CAN HAVE FUN AND BE THEMSELVES, 3) INTERESTING, CONSTRUCTIVE ACTIVITIES THAT CHANNEL YOUTHFUL ENERGY. THE CLUB PROVIDES A DEDICATED LEARNING SPACE FOR YOUTH TO LEARN HOW TO MEET THEIR GOALS AND FIND SUCCESS BY ENRICHING THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND PROVIDING THEM WITH A SAFE HAVEN IN WHICH THEY CAN LEARN AND GROW. WE ARE DEDICATED TO ENSURING THAT THESE YOUTH HAVE GREATER ACCESS TO QUALITY PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES THAT WILL ENHANCE THEIR LIVES AND SHAPE THEIR FUTURES. THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF STORY COUNTY CURRENTLY PROVIDES RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES, CHARACTER, AND LEADERSHIP TO OVER 550 MEMBERS.
