Boone Area Humane Society (BAHS) provides animal control to the city of Boone, Boone County and surrounding towns that have a contract with BAHS. The goal is to respond to animal neglect and abuse calls, provide animal control, operate an animal shelter for lost, found, and unwanted pets. As part of the services to the community BAHS finds stable, forever homes for the animals, provides community education and training, sponsors a 'Clear the Shelter Day' and networks with local and national organizations to provide training and education for the staff and community. BAHS is an important and viable part of the Boone community participating in many events to promote the agency and help people be aware of the animals and their needs. BAHS has community support from city officials, local organizations, volunteers, schools and the community.
