Mission

The Dubuque Regional Humane Society is an open admissions and no kill facility that works to protect and promote the well being of all animals by fostering respect for their inherent dignity.

About

During the year 1,888 stray and relinquished animals were admitted. 263 animals were reclaimed by owners and 2,307 animals were adopted into new homes. The organization's live release rate was 99%. The staff medical team spayed or neutered 2,000 cats and dogs, having a positive impact on overpopulation. Humane education programming was taken to over 1,000 young people to teach responsibility and compassion for animals and people. Over 4,000 pounds of dog food, cat food and cat litter were donated to pet owners facing financial hardships. 715 animals were transferred to the Dubuque Regional Humane Society from overpopulated areas/shelters where they would have been euthanized.
