Preventing Violence. Promoting Safety. Building Hope. With a bold, comprehensive and nationally-recognized approach, we disrupt cultural norms to end interpersonal violence in two generations. We deliver vital safety and healing services to adults and children experiencing trauma and educate youth and professionals about how to prevent violence and develop healthy relationships. Because violence is predictable, we know it is preventable and through an alliance of collaborative partners and donors we are creating a safer tomorrow.

LIGHT OF HOPE PROGRAM PROVIDES THE ONLY PLACE OF REFUGE IN OUR COMMUNITY FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE BEING ABUSED IN THEIR OWN HOMES OR HARMED BY SEXUAL VIOLENCE, STALKING OR BULLYING, SERVING 1,469 ADULTS AND CHILDREN IN 2018, WITH 97% OF CLIENTS SURVEYED REPORTING THAT OUR SERVICES BENEFITED THEIR LIVES. SERVICES INCLUDE: 1. SAFETY: SHELTER, 24-HOUR CRISIS INTERVENTION, ASSISTANCE WITH PROTECTION ORDERS, LEGAL REPRESENTATION, ADVOCACY, AND RELATED SUPPORT, WITH 96% OF CLIENTS SURVEYED STATING THEY FELT SAFER AFTER RECEIVING SERVICES. IN 2018, WE SHELTERED 114 ADULTS AND CHILDREN. THEY STAYED WITH US FOR 2,902 NIGHTS, AN INCREASE OF 36 PERCENT FROM 2017, AS THE WAIT FOR LOW-INCOME HOUSING VOUCHERS GREW TO AT LEAST A YEAR. ONE CLIENT COMMENTED: "I HAVE NEVER FELT SAFER AND THE (STAFF) THAT WORK WITH THE PROGRAM ARE COMPASSIONATE AND CARING."2. HEALING: EVIDENCE-BASED INDIVIDUAL THERAPY AND GROUP SUPPORT TO HELP ADULTS, TEENS AND CHILDREN TO COPE WITH THE TRAUMA OF VIOLENCE AND HEAL, WITH 100% OF ADULTS AND YOUTH SURVEYED INDICATING IMPROVED EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING. WE PROVIDED THERAPY AND SUPPORT TO 59 ADULTS AND 179 CHILDREN IN 2018. ONE MOTHER OF A CHILD RECEIVING THERAPY COMMENTED: "HE FEELS SAFE, IS LEARNING COPING SKILLS AND STARTING TO OPEN UP A LITTLE. HE HAS FOUND A SAFE PLACE TO TALK."3. EMPOWERMENT: OUR CAREER AND EDUCATIONAL COUNSELING, HOUSING ASSISTANCE, AND TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, WITH 60 CLIENTS TAKING STEPS TOWARD SECURING JOBS OR HIGHER EDUCATION, AND 165 CLIENTS TAKING STEPS TOWARD SECURING PERMANENT HOUSING. OUR TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM PROVIDED SUPPORT AND A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE FOR 12 FAMILIES, HELPING THEM TAKE STEPS TOWARD MEETING THEIR SELF-SUFFICIENCY GOALS. ONE CLIENT COMMENTED: "THE STAFF HAVE BEEN SUCH A BLESSING. IF IT WASN'T FOR YOU, I WOULD BE HOMELESS. WITH YOUR HELP, I WAS ABLE TO GET INTO HOUSING AND TAKE CLASSES FOR MY GED. NOW I WILL BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE MY DREAMS OF BEING AN ULTRASOUND TECH."
