About this organization
Mission
Empowered by Light installs solar micro grids for indigenous communities, conservation areas and for schools in Brazil, Ecuador, Nepal, Zambia, and Puerto Rico.
About
Empowered by Light (EBL) donated solar and energy storage systems to eight fire stations in Puerto Rico, continuing the work started in 2017 to build more resilient communities on the island in the wake of Hurricane Maria. These systems enable fire fighters and paramedics to reliably respond to emergencies in the communities they serve both during and after severe weather events. EBL also supported the installation of solar and storage systems on an additional two observation towers in Chitwan National Park, Nepal. These towers allow guests to stay overnight in the historic park where they can observe wildlife in a safe and comfortable setting, and the revenue generated from the visits supports the communities that live on the border of the park.
