Mission

The Honeycomb Project is the only nonprofit organization in Chicago, and one of few in the county, focused on family volunteering. We're on a mission to engage, mobilize and inspire kids and their families to build strong and vibrant communities for all Chicagoans. Since 2011, nearly 20,000 volunteers have participated in Honeycomb programs, making a difference in the lives of millions of residents in the regions.

About

Honeycomb works with more than 40 local partner organizations to create fun service learning experiences for the whole family. Programs address a spectrum of regional challenges such as homelessness, poverty, environmental conservation, community building and public health. Kids work alongside their parents; whether that be growing fresh produce in food deserts, preparing home-cooked meals at local shelters, or leading beach cleanups along the shores of Lake Michigan. Honeycomb programs teach volunteers empathy, civic action and social awareness - in turn, building the next generation of social change-makers.
