Mission

IMPORTA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization authorized to practice immigration law by the U.S. Department of Justice, through Accredited Representatives who represent clients in their petitions and applications to the Department of Homeland Security. IMPORTA offers most of its legal services without charge to low-income immigrants in Southern California through annual grants from the State of California. IMPORTA's mission is to provide high quality immigration legal services to underserved communities such as indigenous farm workers and the elderly, as well as representing younger immigrants who apply for DACA status. IMPORTA engages in extensive educational outreach and collaborates with many other organizations that serve Southern California's immigrant communities.

Importa provides services to the following populations: Detained individuals, Domestic Violence Victims, Farm workers, Human Trafficking Survivors, Individuals who are not in legal immigration status. Legal assistance in the following areas are provided; Adjustment of Status, Asylum applications, Consular Processing, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Family-based petitions, NACARA, Naturalization/Citizenship, Removal hearings, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, T visas, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), U visas, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) petitions
