Mission

The Donate Life Texas registry empowers Texans to record legal consent for lifesaving organ, eye and tissue donation.

About

Educational training, brochures and materials are required by the Texas State Transportation Code to promote timely awareness and understanding of organ, eye and tissue donor registration at the Texas driver license offices. The code also requires all driver license and ID applicants to be asked about joining the donor registry and, as a result, 82% of all new donor registrations came from the driver license and ID application process in 2018. Two percent came via the vehicle registration process and sixteen percent from other means. During the calendar year 2018, 928,470 people were added to the Donate Life Texas organ, eye and tissue donor registry, bringing the total number of registrants to 11,091,693 as of 12/31/18 and making it the second largest donor registry in the United States.
