About

Love Inc. Thrift Shoppe - On August 28, 2017 we opened a true thrift shop in the town of Stuarts Draft, a thriving community within our service area. It opened with 23 part-time, dedicated volunteers. To its formal name we have deliberately added the phrase 'a gathering place' to emphasize that it is more than just a thrift shoppe. Just like our other store (Treasures for Love), we envisioned it as a warm and friendly environment for modeling the love of Christ to all who enter, as well as an excellent place to find bargains on a wide spectrum of donated goods. As a result, the thrift shoppe very quickly became a part of the woven fabric of this warm and friendly small town. The thrift shoppe operated 6 days a week from all during 2018, requiring a total of 4,338 volunteer hours, in addition to a small amount of time from the executive director. Though it did not provide any funding for the overall ministry in 2017 it began providing 3,500 per month for this purpose in January 2018, growing to 7,500 per month midway through 2019. The store has been well-received in our service area, even being voted by the community as the 1 thrift store in the area.
