The Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy is dedicated to using baseball and softball as vehicles to provide positive character development, academic achievement, and improved health among youth from Ward 7 and 8 in Washington, D.C.

After-school academy program: The academy offers an after-school program for students in grades three through eight who reside in the district's wards 7 and 8. The program operates about four hours per day for three days per week during the school year. The program provides scholar-athletes with a healthy snack; study hall tutoring sessions; literacy, math, and science mentoring; nutrition and cooking education; and baseball and softball instruction.
