THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO AID, ASSIST, PROMOTE, ADVOCATE AND DEVELOP SUPPORT OF THE PUBLIC PARK FACILITIES, RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMING AND COMMUNITY SERVICES, CULTURAL ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING VISUAL PERFORMING AND PUBLIC ART AND CIVIC EVENTS IN THE REDWOOD CITY COMMUNITY. TO ADVOCATE, ADVANCE, AND DEVELOP SUPPORT FOR PARKS, RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMING, COMMUNITY SERVICES, CULTURAL ACTIVITIES, AND THE ARTS IN REDWOOD CITY AND SURROUNDING UNINCORPORATED AREAS.

DURING FY 2018/19, THE FOUNDATION HOSTED A CHALK FESTIVAL DOWNTOWN ON JULY 4TH THAT PROVIDED PROFESSIONAL AND AMATEUR ARTISTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE CHALK ART IN A PUBLIC VENUE. THE FOUNDATION HOSTED ITS SIGNATURE FUNDRAISER, PICNIC EN BLANC THAT RAISED MONEY FOR PROGRAMMING COSTS AT MAGICAL BRIDGE PLAYGROUND REDWOOD CITY. THE FOUNDATION PARTNERED WITH THE REDWOOD CITY PARKS DEPT TO HOST OKTOBERFEST AND SALSA FESTIVAL. PROFITS WERE AVAILABLE TO BE GRANTED TO THE REDWOOD CITY PARKS DEPT. THE FOUNDATION PARTNERED WITH OTHERS TO HOST A FUNDRAISER IN SUPPORT OF THE FRIDAY NIGHT SUMMER CONCERTS. THE FOUNDATION SUPPLIED VOLUNTEERS TO COLLECT DONATIONS DURING THE WEEKLY FRIDAY NIGHT CONCERTS. PROCEEDS FROM THIS EFFORT WERE AVAILABLE TO BE GRANTED TO THE REDWOOD CITY PARKS DEPT TO SUPPORT THE SUMMER DOWNTOWN EVENTS FOR THE NEXT YEAR. THE FOUNDATION CONTINUED ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE 150TH COMMITTEE SERVING AS THE FISCAL SPONSOR FOR THE REDWOOD CITY SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION COMMITTEE (150TH COMMITTEE), A GROUP THAT DID FUNDRAISING AND PLANNED EVENTS TO COMMEMORATE AND CELEBRATE THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY'S 150TH ANNIVERSARY. THE 150TH COMMITTEE DID NOT HOST ANY EVENTS IN FY 18/19, BUT THE COMMITTEE IS STILL SELLING COMMEMORATIVE ITEMS ON THE FOUNDATION'S WEBSITE, AND DISBURSING FUNDS. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES ONLINE TICKET SALES FOR SEVERAL REDWOOD CITY PARKS DEPARTMENT EVENTS SUCH AS, OKTOBERFEST AND ZOPPE CIRCUS. THE FOUNDATION HOSTED A FAMILY CAMPOUT IN THE CITY'S LARGEST PUBLIC PARK. THE FOUNDATION CONTINUED COMMUNITY ADVOCACY THROUGH ART (CATA) TO BRING MURAL ART TO EXTERIOR BUILDINGS THAT ADDRESS A COMMUNITY VALUE OR ISSUE. A MURAL WAS UNDER NEGOTIATIONS WITH GROCERY OUTLET, BUT FELL TRHOUGH. A MURAL WAS COMPLETED AT DEHOFF'S KEY MARKET. A SUBSET OF CATA, HOSTED MONTHLY OPEN PAINT NIGHTS IN JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER IN REDWOOD CITY. THIS FREE PAINT EVENT WAS OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND WOULD FEATURE A LOCAL ARTIST AND A LOCAL NON-PROFIT. OPEN PAINT 2.0, A LARGER SATURDAY EVENT WAS HOSTED IN MAY 2019. THE FOUNDATION CO-HOSTED WITH THE REDWOOD CITY PARKS DEPARTMENT A MONTHLY EVENT IN A DIFFERENT PARK CALLED "PUB IN THE PARK" DURING THE MONTHS OF MAY, JUNE, JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER. LOCAL BREWERIES ARE FEATURED, THERE IS LIVE MUSIC, AND FOOD TRUCKS. FAMILIES COME OUT FOR THE RECREATION.THE FOUNDATION SERVED AS A SPONSOR OF ART ON THE SQUARE, AN EFFORT TO BRING ARTISTS TOGETHER 5 TIMES DURING THE SUMMER TO SELL THEIR PRODUCTS TO THE PUBLIC. THE FOUNDATION SPONSORED THE SEQUOIA ART GROUP ANNUAL ART SHOW AND PROVIDED CASH PRIZES TO THE WINNERS IN THREE CATEGORIES. THE FOUNDATION SPONSORED DIA DE LOS MUERTOS AND HOSTED A FREE COMMUNITY-WIDE CHALK ART MURAL ACTIVITY AT THE ANNUAL EVENT. THE FOUNDATION PARTNERED WITH THE PENINSULA HILLS WOMENS CLUB TO SELL CHRYSANTHEMUMS AT THE SYMPHONY, PUB IN THE PARK, AND WITHIN THE COMMUNITY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR BEFORE OUR VERY EYES. THE CITY IS PLANNING TO CONVERT TWO SURFACE PARKING LOTS INTO PARKS. THE FOUNDATION HOSTED A FIELD TRIP FOR BUSINESS LEADERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO VISIT VARIOUS PARKS AND PLAZAS IN SAN FRANCISCO TO GET IDEAS. THE FOUNDATION ALSO HOSTED A 3-PART SPEAKER SERIES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC TO DISCUSS IDEAS FOR DOWNTOWN PARKS AND GREEN SPACES AND INVITED PROFESSIONALS IN THE FIELD OF DESIGN TO SPEAK AT THE EVENTS. THE FOUNDATION APPLIED FOR A JUMPSTART GRANT FROM THE CA ARTS COUNCIL TO PROVIDE ART CLASSES TO SYSTEM-ENGAGED AND AT-RISK JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH. THE FOUNDATION WILL TAKE A LEADERSHIP ROLE IN OPERATING THE KINDNESS AMBASSADOR PROGRAM AND THE PROGRAMMING FOR THE MAGICAL BRIDGE PLAYGROUND WHEN CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE. A MEMORIAL FUND TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THESE PURPOSES WAS ESTABLISHED IN HONOR OF KYLE HART, A REDWOOD CITY RESIDENT WHO DIED IN 2018. THE FOUNDATION , ALONG WITH OTHER ART GROUPS, IS WORKING ON A PROPOSAL FOR A "CENTER OF CREATIVITY" TO BE BUILT IN REDWOOD CITY AND FUNDED BY DEVELOPERS AND THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY. THE PARKS DEPT. HOSTED A SUMMER CAMP TO INTRODUCE YOUTH TO VARIOUS NON-PROFIT PROGRAMS. THE FOUNDATION PARTICIPATED AND DID A PRESENTATION ABOUT THE FOUNDATION AND PLANNNED AN ACTIVITY FOR THE STUDENTS. THE FOUNDATION SERVED AS A MAJOR SPONSOR FOR THE FIRST BRAVEMAKER FILMFEST. BRAKEMAKER IS A REDWOOD CITY NON-PROFIT FOCUSSED ON FILM THAT RAISES SOCIAL AWARENESS. THE FOUNDATION COMMISSIONED A LOCAL ARTIST TO DESIGN, CRAFT AND INSTALL A MOSAIC TILE MURAL INSIDE THE MAGICAL BRIDGE PLAYGROUND WHEN COMPLETED IN 2020. THE FOUNDATION FUNDED AN ART PROGRAM AS A NEW OFFERING AT THE PARKS DEPT'S MOBILE RECREATION PROGRAM AT CITY PARKS THAT TAKES PLACE ONCE PER MONTH IN THE SUMMER MONTHS.
