Mission
El Refugio accompanies immigrants at Stewart Detention Center and their loved ones through hospitality, visitation, support, and advocacy. We envision a world without immigration detention.
About
During 2018, El Refugio Ministry offered lodging to a total of 63 families of detained immigrants. Supported approximately 288 people who stopped by the hospitality house as guests to eat, use the facilities, rest, and receive clothing or a backpack for their loved ones at Stewart. Conducted 664 humanitarian visits to 217 immigrants and aslyum-seekers at Stewart Detention Center. Sent over 950 holiday cards to our friends detained at Stewart. Sent 172 books to immigrants at Stewart. Conducted 36 education/advocacy sessions about immigrant detention and the work of El Refugio.
