Mission
Prepare & inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering & math (STEM). STEM Advantage works to identify promising women & minority students majoring in STEM fields and to provide opportunities for them through scholarships, paid internships, mentoring and professional development workshops.
About
The organization provides support to STEM Advantage Scholars. These students are undergraduates majoring in a bachelor degree program at Cal State University Los Angeles, Cal State University Dominguez Hills, Cal State University Northridge, Cal State University Fullerton, Cal State University Long Beach and Cal Poly Pomona. This age group is focused on because fewer than 50% of students who enter college intending to major in a STEM field complete a STEM degree; the majority switch to non-STEM majors during their first two years of study. These students will help inform and shape the program for future students.STEM Advantage Scholars are women and men from diverse multi-ethnic heritage (African-American, Hispanic, Asian, Cambodian-American, Pacific Islander, and Caucasian).All scholarship funds are paid to and disbursed by the Cal State University Dominguez Hills Philanthropic Foundation,Cal State LA Foundation,CSUN (Cal State University Northridge) Foundation, CSU LONG BEACH 49 FOUNDATION, and Cal Poly Pomona.
