The AAC is a permanent body dedicated to advocacy on behalf of Asian Americans throughout Massachusetts. The Commission’s goal is to recognize and highlight the vital contributions of Asian Americans to the social, cultural, economic, and political life of the Commonwealth; to identify and address the needs and challenges facing residents of Asian ancestry; and to promote the well-being of this dynamic and diverse community, thereby advancing the interests of all persons who call Massachusetts home.

To more accurately capture and celebrate the rich tapestry of our community, the Massachusetts Asian American Commission has transitioned its name to the Massachusetts Asian American and Pacific Islanders Commission (AAPIC). This name change, signed into law by Governor Charlie Baker on July 16, 2021, as a part of the FY22 state budget, is a testament to our commitment to recognizing the vibrant history, culture, and contributions of both Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders throughout the Commonwealth. The Commission, initially founded as the Massachusetts Asian American Commission (AAC) on October 29, 2006, stands as a permanent statewide entity championing the causes and concerns of Asian Americans. Today, as the AAPIC, our expanded mission encompasses: - Celebrating the significant roles Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders play across various spheres of the Commonwealth, from the social and cultural to the economic and political. - Actively identifying and addressing the unique challenges faced by residents of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage. - Fostering the growth and prosperity of our diverse community, ensuring a brighter future for every resident of Massachusetts.
