THE AUTISM SOCIETY CENTRAL VIRGINIA'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF ALL AFFECTED BY AUTISM BY MAXIMIZING THE SELF-SUFFICIENCY, INDEPENDENCE, AND QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL LIVING WITH AUTISM. THE ASCV IS THE LOCAL VOICE AND RESOURCE IN EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, SERVICES, AND SUPPORT. THE ORGANIZATION FULFILLS ITS MISSION TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF ALL AFFECTED BY AUTISM BY PROVIDING INFORMATION AND REFERRAL TO ANYONE SEEKING RESOURCES ON AUTISM SERVICES AND SUPPORTS, SPONSORING MONTHLY INTEREST AND SOCIAL GROUPS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR FAMILIES, AND HOLDING EDUCATIONAL EVENTS AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. IN 2018, THE ASCV WAS PROUD TO REACH 900 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH OUR INFORMATION & REFERRAL PROGRAM; 2,300 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH SOCIAL AND RECREATION ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING SOCIAL GROUPS, BOWLING LEAGUES, FAMILY OUTINGS & A SIBLING PROGRAM; 580 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH 14 EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS; AND 63 INDIVIDUALS WITH $15,428 THROUGH OUR RECREATIONAL, SOCIAL & EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS.
