Global Citizens Initiative empowers young global citizens from all sectors of society to be lifelong leaders of positive change. Our vision is a global community where individuals embrace their unique colorful stories and cultures as they design and implement solutions to global issues that transcend social, economic and political boundaries. The GCI Summit brings together a select group of secondary students from around the world to the Harvard University Faculty Club. During the nine-day summit, students engage with each other and are taught an academic curriculum that includes discussion based learning and design thinking. The summit serves as the springboard for a nine month fellowship focused on the implementation of a service project based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, applied within their home communities. In 2018, GCI held its first professional development seminar for 12 educators that ran concurrently with the summit.
