Physical fitness & discipline (run): Physical fitness training is a significant part of this program and supports the overall goal of job readiness. Many of the participants in the program do not have stable housing, are homeless, or are in transitional living arrangements. Additionally, many participants are in or have been through the criminal justice system. Many lack the discipline required to hold a job, such as waking up early and being on-time for work. An early morning run is a requirement of the program. This begins to build the skills required to be ready for work in the morning. Participant job retention is very important to our participants and to our program and this aspect of the program is a major motivational factor to achieve our goals.
