The largest program was a food rescue operation established with KIND Snacks. In three warehouses in California, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, KIND Snacks produces large amounts of food including bars, grains, and cereals. RLC works with the corporate KIND Snacks offices on a monthly basis to get pallets of obsolete inventory donated that is on average thousands of pounds of boxes of food that would otherwise been thrown out. More than 200,000 people and children in some of the poorest districts in America, such as San Bernardino, have benefitted from the healthy food donated by KIND Snacks. In 2018, the partnership resulted in 358,967 pounds of food rescued.The second largest program in 2018 was the continued food rescue operation that was established in 2015 with PepsiCo. In Portland, Oregon, a PepsiCo factory of Frito Lays produces large amounts of snacks including chips, pretzels, and others. RLC continues to work with this Frito Lays factory as needed, picking up on average thousands of pounds of boxes of snacks that would otherwise been thrown out. RLC delivers this donated product by truck to many homeless shelters and soup kitchens around the Portland area. More than 100,000 people total have benefitted from the food donated by Frito Lays. In 2018, the partnership resulted in 148,236 pounds of rescued food that would have been thrown out but instead accompanied meals fed to those in need.RLC first established its third largest food rescue operation with 3 Guys from Brooklyn in August of 2017 and steadily grown since then. This Dyker Heights grocery store is open 24 hours, 7 days a week and has an open-air marketing with fresh fruits and vegetables. RLC is pleased to partner with 3 Guys to rescue excess healthy produce that would otherwise be thrown away. RLC engages volunteers with vans and trucks multiple times a week as needed, and picks up on average hundreds of pounds of fruits and vegetables. The food is then taken to the MASBIA homeless shelter and St. John's Bread & Life shelters which are both local homeless shelters.
