World of Speed first opened its doors to the public on April 24, 2015 and currently showcases up to 100 vehicles. A key program, the automotive learning center, is inspiring current and future generations of students, automotive enthusiasts, and professionals through education, community engagement, and the exploration of career opportunities in the automotive industry. The museum provides a wide variety of community programming and features a substantial archive of motorsports memorabilia. In 2018, World of Speed welcomed 51,500 visitors to the museum and offered benefits to 448 member households. The museum provided educational programs to over 6,100 people, ranging in age from early elementary school to life-long learners through school tours, family event days, camps and workshops, and other special events and activities. World of Speed partnered with a local community college to provide vocational automotive industry training to students from nine different high schools, including access to two high-tech classrooms, and professionally-equipped service bays.
