Mission
EAGLE-U.S. is organized for the promotion of environmental conservation and the rule of law by supporting projects geared towards developing civic activism and collaborating with governments and civil society to improve the application of national and international environmental legislation with the aim of generating a strong deterrent against the illegal trades in wildlife, timber and other environment-related criminal activities, including corruption.
About
In 2018, EAGLE US continued its support to EAGLE's partner in Gabon, AALF. AALF's 2018 accomplishments include the arrest of 52 ivory traffickers. AALF's coordinator travelled to Congo and Central African Republic to meet with WWF, WCF, African Parks and UNFWS, where he discussed cooperation in fighting wildlife crime. The assistant coordinator participated at an international workshop in Duala on combating illegal logging in Congo basin in June. In September the coordinator held a series of meetings with high Gabonese authorities and diplomats including EU officers, the Director of the Cabinet of the Ministry of Environment, the General Inspector of the Ministry of Environment, the General Director of Forests, UNODC officers and others.
