The Houston Furniture Bank’s mission as a 501c (3) tax-exempt charitable organization is to furnish hope making empty houses homes by providing families with residential furniture and furnishings to improve sleep, mealtime, and home comforts to promote a happy and healthy lifestyle. Since 1992 the Houston Furniture Bank has been serving families as a steppingstone to improve living conditions resulting from poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, mental and physical health concerns, and natural disasters. The Houston Furniture Bank serves the Houston metropolitan area including Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller counties.

The Furniture Bank is a charitable organization that collects and distributes furniture and home furnishings free of charge or reduced in price for people in need that have received housing assistance through a social service agency or charity in the Houston area. Services have been provided for over 20000 families since Furniture Bank's 1992 inception.
