SHELTER FROM THE STORM MINISTRIES (SFTSM) IS A FAITH-BASED ORGANIZATION REPRESENTED AND SUPPORTED BY MULTIPLE CHURCHES, BUSINESSES BIG AND SMALL, AND MANY PEOPLE WHO CONTRIBUTE AND VOLUNTEER FROM OUR COMMUNITY. OUR MISSION IS "TRANSFORMATION THROUGH SHELTER, SUPPORT, AND HOPE" FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES IN SUN PRAIRIE, WISCONSIN. SFTSM FACILITY INCLUDES 11 FAMILY SUITES TO SLEEP UP TO 6 PEOPLE. EACH UNIT HAS A PRIVATE BATHROOM AND FULLY FURNISHED KITCHENETTE. THE LARGE COMMUNITY AND FAMILY GATHERING ROOM BRINGS OUR CLIENTS TOGETHER TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS. OUR INSIDE PLAYROOM AND OUTSIDE PLAYGROUND OFFER A VARIETY OF RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES. OUR CASE MANAGERS WORK WITH EACH OF OUR CLIENTS TO DEVELOP A PERSONAL PLAN TO MOVE THEM INTO SELF-SUFFICIENCY. OUR TEAM BRINGS HEALING AND INDEPENDENCE TO OUR CLIENTS THROUGH MENTORING, EDUCATION AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS INCLUDING: BUDGETING AND FINANCIAL PLANNING, NUTRITION AND COOKING CLASSES, GOAL SETTING, HEALTH AND WELLNESS TRAINING, PARENTING CLASSES, CAREER READINESS AND JOB SEARCH SKILLS, SUCCESS MENTORING, CAR MINISTRY AND BIBLE STUDIES & PRAYER.AT YEAR END 2018, SFTSM HAD PROVIDED OVER 7,000 BED NIGHTS. IN ADDITION, 40 CLIENTS (MOMS AND CHILDREN) GRADUATED FROM OUR PROGRAM MOVING ON TO BECOME RESPONSIBLE COMMUNITY MEMBERS.
