About
Sunrise Coffee provided space and opportunities for participants to (1) gather and socially connect with one another (2) learn job skills through volunteering and (3) become more involved with Sunrise Project and the wider community. Sunrise Coffee, located in east Lawrence, provided a library stocked with gardening, cooking, activist literature and local zines that people in the community could utilize for no charge. As part of our mission, Sunrise implemented a suspended coffee program where people could purchase a coffee for another community member who could come in, at a later time and enjoy a free drink in the communal space.
