About
School Year Programs: In 2018-2019, 720+ young women gained knowledge and developed skills as creative leaders and courageous changemakers within an intergenerational community of belonging. Through 10+ programs, young women received over 22,634 service hours and worked with 35+ adult volunteer mentors. We serve young women from marginalized and under-resourced communities: 90% from low-income families, 85% of color, 70% from immigrant backgrounds. To create access, we provide representative leadership, cultural respect, program activities, transportation and healthy meals, all free of charge. School-year programs include: Y-WE Nature Connections, Youth Leadership Council, and Y-WE Lead. Participants reported increased: self-confidence, leadership skills, engagement with the natural world, and commitment to taking action for community change. 95% of Y-WE Lead program-end survey respondents reported increased sense of self confidence and 100% of Y-WE Nature Connections youth reported an increased sense of care and personal connection to the environment.
