Criminal justice & rule of law programming: GCCS drafted guidelines on human rights-compliant judicial responses to terrorism which were adopted by the chief justices of Burkina Faso, Benin, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and France. We built a team of Cameroonian change leaders & facilitated the delivery of trainings to over 150 government practitioners on access to justice, promoting human rights, & advancing good governance while countering terrorism. We trained thousands of prison officers in Morocco, Indonesia, Kenya, & Trinidad & Tobago on managing terrorism offenders in accordance with intl human rights norms, & on preventing radicalization & recruitment to violent extremism in prison populations. At the UN, we brought greater attention to the importance of safeguarding human rights defenders.
