Mission

Heartbeat Opera reimagines and rearranges operatic works dramatically and musically, finding the core of each work and using it to create vivid theatrical worlds which speak to the social and cultural complexities of our current moment. This collaborative artistic process produces works which are relevant, immediate, and visceral, bringing new audiences to opera, and featuring underrepresented voices both on and off the stage.

About

Heartbeat Opera Mainstage Productions: Two full theatrical renditions of major works were presented. First, 'La Susanna', a co-production with Washington DC-based Opera Lafayette, a rarely-staged oratorio was presented at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City, greeted by large audiences, and strong critical acclaim. Second, Heartbeat Opera's reimagined 'Don Giovanni' was presented at the prestigious Chamber Music Northwest Festival in Portland, OR, our first west coast showing.
