1) OUR FREE PROGRAMMING IS A DEFINING PILLAR OF OUR MISSION: TO PROVIDE FREE AND ABUNDANT ACCESS TO THE ARTS; TO PRESENT AND SUPPORT A DIVERSE ARRAY OF ARTISTS FROM ALL OVER THE GLOBE, AND TO PRESERVE AND CULTIVATE A BEAUTIFUL OUTDOOR DESTINATION WHERE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS CAN EXPERIENCE THE ARTS, NATURE AND EACH OTHER. THE ORGANIZATION PRODUCES A SUMMER SEASON THAT FEATURES OUR SIGNATURE "50 FREE SHOWS UNDER THE STARS". IN SO DOING, WE ATTRACT AND SERVE OVER 65,000 PATRONS, ENSURING THAT THERE IS NO BARRIER TO EXPERIENCING WORLD-CLASS PROGRAMMING, PROVIDING A PORTAL TO DISCOVERING NEW ARTISTS AND GENRES AND SIMULTANEOUSLY INVESTING IN ARTIST DEVELOPMENT AND AUDIENCE CULTIVATION. WE PRESENT ESTABLISHED, AWARD-WINNING ARTISTS, AND/OR INTERNATIONALLY TOURING ARTISTS AS WELL AS BREAKOUT STARS AND EMERGING ARTISTS, ALL OF WHOM ARE COMPENSATED. FIFTY FREE SHOWS ADDS UP TO MUCH MORE -- IT MEANS THAT FREE ACCESS TO THE ARTS IS A DEFINING CHARACTER OF OUR ORGANIZATION AS WELL AS A DEFINING CHARACTER FOR THE COMMUNITY WE SERVE AND GROW AND IT PROVIDES ACCESS TO THE ARTS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES THAT MIGHT NOT OTHERWISE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE AND ENJOY THIS PROGRAMMING. IN 2018 WE ACTUALLY PRODUCED 53 FREE SHOWS AS PART OF OUR SUMMER SEASON AND FREE PROGRAMMING. HIGHLIGHTS IN 2018 INCLUDED RANKY TANKY (SOUTH CAROLINA'S GLOBAL GULLAH AMBASSADORS AND BILLBOARD CHART-TOPPERS), VAL RAMOS FLAMENCO ENSEMBLE, DR K'S MOTOWN REVUE, CHRIS BRUBECK'S TRIPLE PLAY JAZZ TRIO, JOE MCCARTHY'S AFRO BOP ALLIANCE BIG BAND, PHILLY ROCKSTARS LOW CUT CONNIE (FEATURED IN ROLLING STONE, LOVED BY ELTON JOHN, AND WHO MADE THEIR LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MYERS DEBUT FOLLOWING THEIR CONCERT ON OUR STAGE), FESTIVAL FAVORITE AND BANJO VIRTUOSO CYNTHIA SAYER AND HER JOY RIDE BAND, NEO-SWING-JAZZ-SOUL BREAKOUTS MIMI & THE PODD BROTHERS, AUSTIN SENSATIONS THE PETERSON BROTHERS, LATIN GRAMMY AWARD WINNER PEDRO GIRAUDO TANGO QUARTET, DJ REKHA (WHICH INCLUDED DANCE LESSON FOR THE AUDIENCE TO FULLY IMMERSE INTO HER BHANGRA-BASED BEATS); WE PRESENTED INTERNATIONAL TOURING ARTISTS INCLUDING CELTGRASS QUARTET JIG JAM (IRELAND) AND ALL OUR EXES ARE FROM TEXAS (AUSTRALIA), AND LES GRANDS HURLEURS (QUEBEC). OUR FREE PROGRAMMING FEATURES A DEDICATED WEEKLY CHILDREN'S SERIES, AS WELL AS COMEDY AND DANCE PRESENTATIONS. 2) OUR "STARS-ON-TOUR" TICKETED BENEFIT EVENTS ARE A CORNERSTONE OF OUR FUNDRAISING AS WELL AS AN EVENT STRUCTURE THAT ALLOWS US TO PRESENT ICONIC ARTISTS AND SUPERGROUPS THAT WE WOULDN'T OTHERWISE NECESSARILY BE ABLE TO PRESENT FREE OF CHARGE. AT THE SAME TIME, WITH UNDERWRITING AND SPONSORSHIP WE ARE ABLE TO SCALE THESE EVENTS IN DIFFERENT WAYS, SOME WITH MORE AFFORDABLE (AS WELL AS AN ALLOCATION OF FREE TICKETS FOR SENIORS) THAT GIVE PEOPLE EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO SEE LEGENDARY STARS IN AN INTIMATE SETTING. OVER THE YEARS, THE LEVITT PAVILION HAS PRESENTED LEGENDARY ARTISTS INCLUDING RAY CHARLES, TONY BENNETT, WILLIE NELSON, AND MANY MORE. THESE EVENTS ALSO ELEVATE THE PRESTIGE OF PLAYING AT THE LEVITT PAVILION FOR ARTISTS AT EVERY STAGE OF THEIR CAREER. IN 2018 WE PRESENTED MELISSA ETHERIDGE: THE ROCK SHOW; A SOLD-OUT BENEFIT EVENT ATTRACTING OVER 1,800 AUDIENCE MEMBERS (CONCERT-ONLY AS WELL AS GALA ATTENDEES), IT ALSO WAS THE INAUGURAL STOP ON HER ROCK SHOW TOUR. 3) OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IS A PAID PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES AN EXCITING AND ENGAGING EXPERIENCE FOR COLLEGE AND HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENTS. THEY ARE ASSIGNED TO VARIOUS ASPECTS OF PRODUCING THE SUMMER SEASON, INCLUDING ARTS ADMINISTRATION AND PRESENTATION/LINE PRODUCING WITH MARKETING, SOCIAL MEDIA AND DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES, PRESENTING, BACKSTAGE PREPARATION, ARTIST HOSPITALITY, FRONT OF HOUSE AND BOX OFFICE DUTIES AND OFFICE ASSISTANCE. VALUABLE SKILLS ARE DEVELOPED AND HONED THAT ARE RELEVANT TO CAREERS IN THE ARTS, ENTERTAINMENT SECTORS AS WELL AS BUSINESS, MARKETING, DEVELOPMENT AND MORE. FURTHER WE STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT STUDENTS WHO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK IN A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ENVIRONMENT GAIN VALUABLE INSIGHT INTO ACCOUNTABILITY AND FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY AND COMMUNITY SERVICE; THEY ALSO SEE A SUMMER SEASON COME TO LIFE AND WITH IT, DEVELOP A DEEPER APPRECIATION FOR THE ARTS AS WELL AS FOR ARTISTS AND GENRES THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE OTHERWISE ENCOUNTERED. IN 2018, WE WORKED WITH 38 INTERNS, SOME OF WHOM RETURNED FOR A SECOND OR THIRD YEAR, AS THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES GROW AND WHO ARE GIVEN MORE SPECIFIC PROJECT PRIORITIES.
