Conservation programs AWF plays a significant role in conserving African wildlife, including the continent's most iconic species: elephants, rhinoceros, giraffes, great apes, and large carnivores, including lions and cheetahs. Much of our work addresses the intersection of wildlife conservation and human activity, often in the context of livelihoods and economic development. (See schedule O for continuation)
