Spanish Catholic Center is an affiliate of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, Inc. (CCADW) and both corporations have common ownership and management. The Internal Revenue Code does not include a provision allowing not for profit corporations under common control to file a consolidated Form 990. However, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) require that entities under common control prepare consolidated financial statements. THE SPANISH CATHOLIC CENTER OFFERS MANY PROGRAMS IN THE FOLLOWING PRIMARY SERVICE AREAS THAT MEET THE EMERGENCY AND LONG-TERM NEEDS OF THE MULTICULTURAL IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY: HEALTH SERVICES-PROVIDES MEDICAL AND DENTAL SERVICES IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA AND MEDICAL SERVICES IN MARYLAND FOR UNINSURED INDIGENT PERSONS. SOCIAL SERVICES - THESE SERVICES INCLUDE FOOD DISTRIBUTION, CRISIS INTERVENTION, AND SOCIAL ASSISTANCE. CIVIC AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES- ASSIST IMMIGRANTS IN THEIR PROCESS TO BECOME NEW CITIZENS, SEEK FOR WORK PERMITS OR PETITION RELATIVES ONCE THEY HAVE BECOME PERMANENT RESIDENTS OR AMERICAN CITIZENS. SERVICES TO CLIENTS IN CRIMINAL AND REMOVAL PROCEEDINGS ARE MINIMAL, BUT ASSESSMENT IS DONE AND REFERRAL IS MADE. ECONOMIC SERVICES- PROVIDES JOB COUNSELING, TRAINING AND JOB PLACEMENT FOR THOSE IN NEED. DEVELOPMENT OF MICRO-ENTERPRISE OR MINI-INDUSTRY EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS.
