People's Homesteading Group, Inc. (PHG) is a private non-profit Maryland corporation that provides affordable housing for low and moderate income families and jobs for very low income individuals. PHG operates four programs: renovation of vacant houses for sale to low to moderate income households, community building to revitalize blighted neighborhoods, job creation and job training for very low income individuals, and other community development projects, such as community gardening and community safety initiatives that benefit low to moderate income people living in low to moderate income areas. Housing is developed for families of all races to whom homeownership may not be available through conventional financing means at affordable prices.

To create opportunities of home ownership to low income individuals by making physical and social improvements in deteriorated neighborhoods and by rehabilitating vacant and abandoned buildings and land for use and ownership which serves to promote self reliance, economic independence and employment and other work related skills for lower income individuals.
